Euthanasia Pricing

The charge for a home euthanasia with Journey’s End is on the chart below. This pricing covers a radius of 15 miles around my home base, using Google maps. For your calculations, please use 178 Baboosic Lake Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054 as the starting point. We will travel 45 minutes each way from the starting point, though slightly longer distances may be considered, time permitting. Please add $20 for each additional 5 miles for time and gas.

The basic charge includes the home visit by Dr. Sernik, sedation, the actual euthanasia, biohazard disposal of the needles, an ink paw print on a sympathy card, extra ink prints, and a clay paw print. PLEASE NOTE: The euthanasia prices are based on the pet’s HEAVIEST weight. For example, if your pet weighed 55 lbs and now weighs 45, the drugs used will be for a 55 lb. dog. It is important to use enough sedation and euthanasia drugs to make the process peaceful, painless, and effective for your special friend. Aftercare prices are based on the pet’s CURRENT weight.

The charges for aftercare vary depending on what you choose. You can handle aftercare yourself (home burial, taking your pet to your vet, or taking them to the crematory of your choice), at no charge. Or your pet can come with us for cremation by Final Gift. Final Gift offers two options: group cremation (your pet is cremated with other pets and no ashes are returned to you – the ashes are used in a memorial coral reef), and private cremation (your pet is cremated individually, with ashes returned in one of five urns, which are included in the price of private cremation). If you choose private cremation, you have three options to receive your pet’s cremains. You can pick your pet up from us in Merrimack, you can pick your pet up at Final Gift’s facility in Newmarket, or you can have your pet shipped to you, signature required, by Final Gift, for which they charge $35. Because Journey’s End does not have an actual office, if you are picking up your pet in Merrimack, you will be meeting a wonderful, kind member of our staff in an agreed upon location. We will call as soon as your pet has been returned to us to set this up.

Please note that there may be an emergency fee of $50-$100 at Dr. Sernik’s discretion for evening visits, early mornings, weekends, holidays, or emergencies that require moving other appointments to accommodate your pet.

End-of-Life Visits

These are NOT required before a euthanasia. These visits are for people who want to assess their pet’s quality of life, & are not yet ready to say goodbye. The goal is pain control and palliative care.

The basic charge is $440 credit/$420 cash or check for the initial one-hour in-home consultation within 15 miles of 178 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack, NH. Please add $20 for each additional 5 miles or fraction thereof. This entitles you to not only the in-home consult, but ongoing care through e-mail contact, texting, & short phone calls. Recheck exams will be shorter and less expensive ($200).
